Your text goes from your device to the provider you configure. Trali does not relay API requests, and API keys are never included in exported settings. Keys are stored by your operating system’s credential store.
How a provider handles your text still depends on that provider’s privacy policy.

Common questions
Do I need a Trali account?
No. There is no Trali account, no ads, and no Trali-hosted API relay. You bring your own model provider.
Where is my API key stored?
In your operating system’s credential store (for example Windows Credential Manager or macOS Keychain). Keys are not written to settings files and are not included when you export settings.
Which providers work?
OpenAI-compatible and Anthropic-compatible APIs. You can set a custom endpoint, model, and key, then test the connection in settings.
How much does Trali cost?
Trali itself is free and open source. You pay only your chosen model provider for API usage.
Does Trali work offline?
The app is local, but generation needs network access to the provider you configure. Translation speed depends on that provider and model.
Which platforms are supported?
Windows, macOS, and Linux. Installers are published on GitHub Releases.
Can I move settings between machines?
Yes. Export and import settings and glossary entries. API keys stay on each device and are not part of the export.
